Music
ˈmjuːzɪk/
noun
vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion.

Hi all,

Give children a melody, a rhythm, a harmony, and they turn into putty in our hands, right? It works for us 🤞

If your current mood is #fridayfeeling get on your kitchen dancefloor (yes, with the kids) and then when they're in bed, check out these musical recommendations.

Always our favourite topic (along with books, toys, adventures, sport... all of which also feature on the app), we think music makes the world go round. Whatever their  tastes, you will find something here to inspire your kids.

Next week, we'll be sharing book recommendations. So please share yours! You could earn yourself points, and when you have 100 you will receive an Amazon voucher. To get more books. Simple.

Don't forget, the clocks "spring" forward on Saturday night 🌻

Sony Walkman

With a built in USB no less! Wow, they've come a long way since the first portable cassette players came into our lives. User friendly, sleek and very shiny. Or as one mum says: "Small and good quality."

Abba: Super Troupers

One of the first bands that kids get into, enjoy a a cheesy tour through the 1970s with Abba, in their jet, their recording studio and even their sitting room. "A quick hour tour, fun and frivolous," said this dad.

Coco

By the director of Toy Story, this Mexican-themed musical has won Oscars (Best Animated Picture, Best Original Song); a BAFTA (Best Animated Film) and a Golden Globe (Best Animated Picture). "Spell bounding, heart warming, with good positive messages," agrees one mum.

Rave-a-roo

"Fun music and activities," says a mum of 2. The Ministry of Sound brand is evolving, next in their arsenal is a new members club launching soon. Tiny tots can avail themselves of the state-of-the-art sound system this weekend.

Cadogan Hall

Concerts for kids, "who can try the instruments," we've been tipped. See their family program here. This Sunday afternoon, performers aged 4-14 will play classical works that will make good use of the hall's acoustics.

Fun Kids FM

"Bath times have been an education, just as TOTP once was for us!" one mum says. What's not to love about a bit of pop. At least if we're singing along they'll rebel and like "proper" music when they're grown up, yes?

Wigmore Hall

One of the world’s great concert halls, specialising in chamber and instrumental music, is highly recommended by a mum of 2. Usually one family event runs each month, Saturday's Chamber Challenge sees an interactive workshop day for children aged 5+.

West End Live

Set your sights to June, it'll come faster than you think. "This annual romp through the West End is a must for any theatre fan," says a mum. Chorus lines or lead parts from many current shows perform numbers, for free. Suits all ages, all musical fans.

London Guitar Academy

One son has really progressed using their teachers, says a mum of 3. Read the review all of her advice on London's "only dedicated rock, pop and blues guitar school."

What does a 10 year old child actually prefer to play (more than Minecraft)? Why do 5 year olds like looking at iPads?

Follow the link above and grab Early Bird tickets to our next event. Last one was sold out and we'd hate you to miss out on this one.
